About BEER...
The main categories of beer are ALES and LAGER. For Ales the yeast is fermented on top of the beer, for a short period of time. They are generally high in alcohol content, more robust and complex. They are fuller bodied, often darker than lagers, range from rich gold to reddish amber. Best served with stronger flavored foods. For Larger the yeast is fermented on the bottom for long periods of time, brewing includes maturing and clarification processes which makes it more mellow. Best suited to lighter tasting foods.
The sub-Types of Beer are: BOCK: a German style lager that has heavy body and is dark. In German Bock means billy goat. STOUT: deep, dark and flavorful characteristics with intense malt and DRAUGHT: can be light or dark in style, fresh tasting, easy to drink, has slightly lower carbonation level and its less filing. MALT: has higher alcohol content, rich full flavor, are heavier and sweeter than other beers. Deep gold to amber to firelight red in color. LIGHT: extremely light in color, body and mild in flavor. Highly carbonated with low bitterness, no aftertaste, fewer calories and/or lower alcohol content
Winter Beers are brewed with an emphasis of heaviness and bone-warming traits.
